Introduction to the G-Force Phenom
BFGoodrich has made a noteworthy return to the ultra-high-performance (UHP) summer tire segment with the launch of the G-Force Phenom. After a brief hiatus, this new tire is designed to cater to the modified-car market, offering a level of grip and performance previously absent in BFGoodrich’s offerings.

Design Innovations and Technology
The G-Force Phenom features an innovative design that introduces stiff sidewalls and shallow shoulder blocks, enhancing cornering capabilities and steering feedback. Although it is not a dedicated track tire, BFGoodrich has ensured that it performs well under high-performance driving conditions. The tire is constructed with a focus on all-weather performance, incorporating two distinct zones: an outer edge for grip and an inner edge designed to manage water dispersion on wet roads. A key factor in its performance is the incorporation of silica in the rubber compound, which is said to improve grip in both dry and wet circumstances.
Driving Experience at Sonoma Raceway
During a test session at Sonoma Raceway, BFGoodrich put the G-Force Phenom through its paces on a modified 2005 Ford Mustang GTS. The tire showed impressive predictability and control during both wet and dry conditions. Under challenging circumstances, the Phenom maintained composure, providing drivers with valuable feedback before losing grip. The tire’s braking performance was also noted as strong, particularly when compared to its competitors, highlighting BFGoodrich’s commitment to quality and performance. Overall, the G-Force Phenom is set to solidify BFGoodrich’s presence in the UHP summer tire market.
