The Journey Begins
Mercedes-Benz is making waves with the upcoming VLE, the electric variant of its cherished V-Class. Recently, a prototype made a breathtaking journey from Stuttgart to Rome, proving its mettle in both luxury and efficiency. Covering an impressive 677 miles (1,090 kilometers) with merely two stops for quick charging, this prototype showcases the VLE’s potential as a modern luxury van.

Impressive Performance on the Open Road
During the test, the VLE traversed winding mountain passes through the alps, where its innovative rear-wheel steering helped navigate the twisty roads with exceptional ease. What’s more, the comfort settings were maintained with air conditioning at a comfortable 71.6°F (22°C). Though specific efficiency details remain under wraps, Mercedes-Benz is confident that the VLE could deliver an impressive figure, boasting a range that potentially exceeds 500 kilometers (about 311 miles), distinguishing it from current electric options.
A Vision of the Future
What’s particularly striking about the VLE is its ambition to rise above the traditional roots of its predecessors. In conversations at the unveiling of the Vision V concept, company representatives hinted at an S-Class-level experience within the VLE, emphasizing its quality and luxurious touch. Set to debut in 2026, the VLE rides on the new 800-volt platform known as van.ea, promising to bring not just an EV variant but also commercial options as well, expanding its reach in the automotive market.
As Mercedes races towards the future, the VLE aims not just to electrify its lineup but to redefine what consumers expect from luxury vans. Stay tuned for more electrifying updates!
