Geely Xingyuan Takes the Crown
In an exciting turn of events, the Geely Xingyuan, affectionately known as the “Star Wish,” has emerged as the best-selling vehicle in China for the first half of 2025. Surprising many industry observers, this affordable electric vehicle (EV) has topped the sales charts, outperforming heavyweights like the BYD Seagull and Toyota Model Y.

A Game Changer at an Unbeatable Price
With prices starting at an astonishing $10,000, the Geely Xingyuan has redefined affordability in the EV market. Priced at 69,800 yuan, it presents an attractive option for a broad audience looking to switch from gas-powered vehicles to electric ones. According to recent reports, Geely sold nearly 205,000 units by June, leaving behind the BYD Seagull with 174,912 units and the Tesla Model Y at 171,491 units.
Impressive Specifications and Growing Popularity
The Geely Xingyuan is available with two battery pack options from CATL—30.12 kWh and 40.16 kWh—allowing it to achieve ranges between 310 km (192 miles) and 410 km (255 miles), respectively. Despite strong sales figures, the BYD Seagull is not far behind, averaging almost 30,000 units per month. In response, BYD has slashed prices of the Seagull to remain competitive.
