The Future of Lincoln: A New Electric Frontier?
Ford is gearing up to revolutionize its approach to electric vehicles, and the brand’s luxury division, Lincoln, may be in for a transformative ride. According to Ford’s CEO, Jim Farley, the idea of an affordable Lincoln EV could soon be more than just a spark of inspiration. Bringing luxury to a lower price point is no small feat, but it seems the company is ready to take the plunge.

An Ambitious New Platform
Earlier this month, Farley unveiled the Ford EV universal platform, a key player in their strategy to create a lineup of cost-effective electric vehicles. He emphasized that the team has adopted “a radical approach” aimed at not just delivering affordable models, but also ensuring they bring joy to their drivers. Could this mean Lincoln’s upscale offerings might also electrify at a more accessible price? Only time will tell.
What Lies Ahead for Lincoln?
During an exclusive chat with Hagerty, Farley hinted, “an affordable EV Lincoln” makes sense. However, he also stated that Ford isn’t rushing headlong into a fully electric future. He explained, “the team really pushed me to have an all-electric lineup, and I refused to do it.” Instead, we might see a harmony of traditional gasoline models, hybrid technologies, and extended-range EVs (EREVs) in Lincoln’s upcoming lineup. This balanced approach aims to cater to a broader audience, mixing luxury with practicality.
