The Mysterious Case of the Robotaxi Fleet

Ah, Tesla, the automaker that teeters on the edge of innovation and bewilderment. Recently, they announced a staggering 50% increase in their robotaxi fleet. However, in classic Tesla style, the original fleet size was never confirmed. Now, I’m not a mathematician, but if they started with around 20 vehicles, then increasing it by 50% means we’re looking at a grand total of… 30? Wow, call the press!

Teslas Robotaxi Fleet A Numbers Game or Just a Mirage

Elon Musk and the Never-Ending Predictions

For years, CEO Elon Musk has been predicting that Tesla would conquer unsupervised self-driving by the end of every year. Spoiler alert: it hasn’t happened yet. With Waymo expanding its own autonomous ride-hailing service, Tesla appeared to be in a desperate bid to save face. Enter the ‘robotaxi’ service! Launched under a convenient invite-only program, it seems more about optics than actual autonomous advancement. But, hey, at least they’re keeping it exciting!

Peak Wait Times and Vague Promises

With the recent expansion of their Austin service area, one might think those wait times would plummet. Nope! The people of Austin often wait over 20 minutes for a ride—talk about making a splash. Tesla is also rather coy about their fleet size, opting for percentage increases instead of clear numbers. Remember, all this circus is happening while Waymo rolls out with over 100 vehicles in the same city. Tesla may be scaling quicker, but is it really the ‘impressive’ scale they want us to believe? 30 vehicles or not, if you’re waiting that long for a ride, it might be time to rethink your taxi strategies!
