Mini has already announced the bookends of its wholly redesigned 2025 Countryman lineup: the Countryman Electric and the 312-horsepower John Cooper Works Countryman.

Powertrain Specs
Like the last-generation Countryman S, the 2025 S All4 is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, but Mini cranked up the 2.0-liter’s output substantially: It now makes 241 hp and 295 pounds-feet of torque, increases of 52 hp and 89 pounds-feet over the outgoing S trim. That torque figure matches the output of the John Cooper Works, while the S is down 71 hp compared to the performance model. Mini hasn’t confirmed transmission availability yet, but we expect it to be an eight-speed automatic. As denoted by the All4 designation, this Countryman sports Mini’s all-wheel-drive system.

Platform
The new Countryman is almost 5 inches longer and 4 inches taller than the previous-generation SUV, and a 0.9-inch wheelbase stretch should translate to more legroom in the rear seat. Mini claims 16 cubic feet of cargo volume behind the rear seats and 51 cubic feet with them folded, but those numbers are calculated using European procedures and are likely to change when the brand announces full U.S.-market specs. Adaptive dampers will be available at least as an option, and Mini will also offer a lowered suspension for drivers seeking sportier driving behavior.

Interior and Safety Tech
As before, the focal point of the Countryman’s interior is a large, round central screen. Measuring 9.4 inches in diameter, the screen does double duty as both the instrument cluster and infotainment screen. It responds to touch and voice commands and runs on the brand’s latest software, Mini Operating System 9. Drivers can customize the appearance of the display and interior ambient lighting through new Mini Experience Modes.

In European markets, the 2025 Countryman offers a Level 2 hands-free driving system that operates at speeds up to 37 mph and can even automate lane changes, but the low speed threshold for us makes the feature’s appearance in the U.S. questionable.

Trim Levels and Pricing
In addition to the John Cooper Works, the new gas-powered Countryman S All4 will be available in two other trim levels: Classic and Favoured. Each includes what Mini says are “unique exterior and interior elements,” but the brand has yet to detail what those include. Wheel offerings for the two will range from 18-20 inches.

We’ll have full details on the 2025 Mini Countryman S All4 closer to the start of production, which begins in March 2024; Mini says the SUV will arrive at dealers in May. Pricing will start at $39,895 (including $995 destination charge).
