Now, the third major Tesla recall in the last two months impacts warning lights on nearly 2.2 million vehicles.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2024 Cybertrucks, 2017-23 Model 3 sedans, 2012-23 Model S sedans, 2016-24 Model X SUVs and 2019-24 Model Y SUVs. Instrument panel font sizes that are too small for the brake, Park and antilock brake system warning lights can make crucial safety information difficult to read, increasing the risk of a crash.

Tesla released a free over-the-air software update to some affected vehicles in late January to increase font sizes to comply with federal standards, and remaining vehicles will receive the free update in early February. Tesla will notify owners on March 30, but in the meantime, owners can reach Tesla customer service at 877-798-3752 (Tesla’s number for this recall is SB-24-00-003), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
