Hyundai’s nascent performance sub-brand, N, has turned its attention to an electric vehicle for the first time. While the all-wheel-drive Ioniq 5 N’s 641 horsepower grabs headlines, there’s a lot more to this electric SUV than just power
How much more Hyundai wants in exchange for all the N’s upgrades. With a base price of ,475, the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 N represents a premium of ,200 over a 2024 AWD Ioniq 5 SEL, or ,700 over the loaded Limited trim with AWD (all prices include ,375 destination charge).
Considering that a regular AWD Ioniq 5 gives you 320 hp for ,275, an additional 321 horses for just ,200 more beats an aftermarket solution for just about any vehicle. That output comes with an asterisk, however: That’s the output with N Grin Boost engaged, which boosts output from the nominal 601 hp for a maximum of 10 seconds at a time. Hyundai says the Ioniq 5 N will accelerate from 0-60 mph in approximately 3.25 seconds, and top speed is governed at 162 mph.
In addition to the increased output, the N variant gets a larger 84-kilowatt-hour battery pack, compared to 77.4 kWh in the standard Ioniq 5s with AWD. Hyundai hasn’t published range figures yet, but the more powerful motors will almost certainly drain the battery faster than the 320-hp car, which gets an EPA-estimated 260 miles on a charge for the 2024 model. The brand says the N will be capable of charging at up to 238 kilowatts on a DC fast charger, replenishing the battery from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.
The 2025 Hyundai Ioniq N will be available in a single trim level. It features flared wheel arches that make it a full 2 inches wider than the stock Ioniq 5 and a rear diffuser that adds more than 3 inches to the car’s length. It also includes 21-inch wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero performance tires, as well as massive 15.8-inch brakes up front and 14.2-inch discs out back. Like other N models, it is available in the sub-brand’s signature Performance Blue Matte and features orange exterior accents regardless of paint choice, which include black, matte gray, white and orange. The Ioniq N arrives at dealers this month.
