Stellantis recalled nearly 40,000 vehicles over airbags that may not deploy due to a faulty steering column. The automaker is recalling nearly 285,000 vehicles over a different airbag issue: exploding airbags.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2018-21 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger sedans. The issue involves the left and right side-curtain airbag inflators, which may rupture and send metal fragments into the vehicle’s cabin, increasing the risk of serious injury to occupants.

Dealers will replace both side-curtain airbags for free. Owner notification letters are expected to be sent May 3, but those with further questions can contact Chrysler and Dodge parent automaker Stellantis at 800-853-1403 (Stellantis’ number for this recall is 19B), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
