Volkswagen is back to start July off with another one — this time including not just its two- and three-row family haulers, but also its sporty Golf GTI and Golf R hatchbacks.
The offense is a common one that concerns the federally mandated rearview camera display.

Affected vehicles include more than 84,400 model-year 2024 Atlas and Atlas Cross Sports, as well as model-year 2022-24 Golf GTIs and Golf Rs. In such vehicles, the backup camera image may be delayed or deactivated after shifting into Reverse.

Dealers will update the infotainment system software for free. VW will notify owners Aug. 23, but those with further questions can contact the automaker at 800-893-5298 (Volkswagen’s number for this recall is 91US), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
