A Powerhouse Engine Redefines Performance

The 2025 Chevy Corvette ZR1 is set to revolutionize the automotive world with its unprecedented 1064 horsepower. As the first turbocharged Corvette and the first production model to surpass the 1000 horsepower mark, this vehicle is engineered to dominate. The ZR1’s engine, the new LT7, is a close relative of the LT6 in the Z06 but features significant enhancements. It includes twin turbochargers producing a nominal 20.0 psi of boost, an exclusive intake system, and a lower compression ratio of 9.8:1, among other upgrades.

Exceptional Torque and Transmission

The ZR1 is not only about horsepower; it also boasts an impressive 828 pound-feet of torque, with the first 800 available at just 3000 rpm. To preserve the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, torque is limited in the first two gears. The transmission itself has been upgraded with wider gears, stronger input and output shafts, and an improved oiling system. These modifications ensure that the ZR1 maintains its performance edge while offering reliability under extreme conditions.

Advanced Aerodynamics and Cooling

Designed to slay supercars, the ZR1 incorporates numerous aerodynamic and cooling innovations. The vehicle forgoes the front trunk in favor of a flow-through hood that enhances downforce and directs air through a heat exchanger. Additional cooling ducts are built into the side air intakes to cool the rear brakes, while more ducts are found on the coupe’s rear hatch to manage engine temperatures. These features ensure that the ZR1 can handle the rigors of track performance.

Cutting-Edge Chassis and Braking

Every Corvette ZR1 comes with magnetic ride 4.0 dampers and a staggered set of wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. The track-focused ZTK package includes stiffer springs, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, and a suite of aerodynamic add-ons such as front dive planes and a large rear wing. The ZR1 also features the largest factory-fitted carbon-ceramic rotors, measuring 15.7 inches up front and 15.4 inches in the rear. These components ensure superior braking performance and heat management.

Luxurious Interior and Practical Design

Inside, the ZR1 retains the driver-focused layout seen in other Corvettes, complete with a 12.0-inch instrument cluster and an 8.0-inch touchscreen. Despite its performance focus, the ZR1 offers practical features like a cargo area that can accommodate two golf bags. With optional carbon-fiber wheels and a carbon-fiber roof, the ZR1 not only reduces weight but also lowers the car’s center of gravity, enhancing its handling characteristics.

The ZR1 also has unique interior badges and plaques along with a boost gauge. Opting for the higher-spec 3LZ trim brings unique stitching on the doors for added pizzazz. The cabin can also be had with a Habanero color scheme, and there’s an option for blue stitching.

The 2025 Chevy Corvette ZR1 will go into production next year, and it’ll be built alongside the Stingray, Z06, and E-Ray at GM’s factory in Bowling Green, Kentucky. We’re told pricing won’t be released until closer to the start of production, but we know the ZR1 will cost more than the hybrid all-wheel-drive Corvette E-Ray, which starts around $106,000. Of course, we wouldn’t be surprised if a fully kitted-out ZR1 with the ZTK package approaches—if not exceeds—the $200,000 mark.
