Overview of the Recall

BMW Australia has issued a recall for 26,491 vehicles, encompassing certain BMW, Mini, and Alpina models from the 2022 to 2024 model years. This action stems from concerns about a potential fault in the braking system of these vehicles. The issue has prompted a temporary pause in deliveries until a software fix could be implemented.

Reason for the Recall

The recall notice, submitted to the Department of Infrastructure, indicates that a manufacturing defect could lead to signal interference within the brake system’s electronics. This issue could potentially require a higher pedal force for effective braking. Furthermore, the anti-lock braking system (ABS) and dynamic stability control (DSC) may also be compromised.

Software Fix and Resumption of Sales

BMW Australia confirms that the deliveries of new vehicles were temporarily paused to address this brake system issue. A software fix has since been developed and released to dealers, allowing the stop-sale condition to be lifted. The company assures that all necessary measures are taken to ensure the safety and reliability of the affected vehicles.

Affected Models

The recall affects various models sold between 2022 and 2024. Owners of these vehicles are advised to contact their local dealerships to ascertain whether their vehicle is included in the recall and to schedule the necessary software updates. BMW Australia is committed to resolving this issue promptly and efficiently to maintain customer confidence and safety standards.
