Introduction: The Reveal of the Ginetta Akula

The Leeds-based automotive brand, Ginetta, has officially unveiled its latest marvel—the Akula. This road-legal supercar promises an exhilarating driving experience, thanks to its powerful 600bhp, 6.4-litre atmospheric V8 engine and the option of a manual gearbox. The Akula, which means ‘shark’ in Russian, has been shaped by the aggressive design principles of Le Mans racing, marking its evolution from the 2019 concept to a production-ready sports car.

Performance and Engineering

One of the standout features of the Ginetta Akula is its finely tuned dynamics. The car boasts a 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution, ensured by the precise placement of the V8 engine. This configuration allows for longer wishbones and an adjustable suspension setup, offering a pure and uncompromised handling experience. Owners can choose between a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and a six-speed manual with a triple-plate clutch. Ensuring that power hits the road efficiently, the Akula comes with Pirelli P Zero tires on the rear wheels.

Design and Practicality

The exterior of the Akula is aggressively aerodynamic, taking cues from Le Mans racing. However, it’s not just about performance; the Akula also surprises with practicality. With a 473-litre boot, it offers more space than a Ford Puma, making it a practical option for a supercar. Inside the cabin, drivers will find a carbon-fiber multifunction racing wheel, a Ginetta-developed infotainment screen, and a wireless charger, blending high-tech amenities with racing heritage.

Limited Production and Pricing

Ginetta plans to produce only 20 examples of the Akula, making it an exclusive addition to any car enthusiast’s collection. Each unit is priced from £275,000 before local taxes, making it a high-end investment in performance and luxury. Additionally, the Akula is part of Ginetta’s expanding road car range, which also includes the recently launched G56 GTR sports car and the ‘remastered’ 1960s G10.
