Overview of the Update

In light of recent developments concerning the Porsche Taycan, the automaker has implemented a multi-step remedy for affected owners. To ensure the longevity and safety of your electric vehicle, it is paramount to adhere to the guidelines provided by Porsche and take prompt action.

Steps for Mitigating Charging Issues

As part of the remedy, owners are advised not to charge their Taycan vehicles above 80 percent until the onboard diagnostic software can be installed. This precaution is recommended to mitigate any risk related to battery performance. Owners should arrange for their vehicle to be inspected at an authorized Porsche dealer, where technicians will inspect the battery modules and install an advanced diagnostic software solution.

What to Expect During the Inspection

During the inspection, if any anomalies in the battery system are detected, Porsche will replace the modules at no charge. Additionally, if the updated software identifies an issue, it will display a warning message on the dashboard and limit the vehicle’s battery charging capacity to prevent potential hazards. Notification letters to dealers will be sent out starting October 16, while individual owner notifications will commence on November 29.

It’s important to note that Taycans produced after April 3, 2024, are not subject to the recall thanks to specific countermeasures taken during production. Similarly, Audi cell modules manufactured after May 27, 2023, have also been exempted from this issue. Owners who are concerned about whether their vehicle is included in the recall are encouraged to check the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recalls website for updated information.
