Overview of the Recall

Mazda has announced a significant recall affecting nearly 81,000 vehicles, specifically the model-year 2024-25 CX-90 three-row SUV and the 2025 CX-70 two-row SUV. This recall is part of the automaker’s three most recent recalls and stems from a software issue associated with the instrument panel and key vehicle functions.

Impact of the Software Issue

The software glitch concerns the electrical supply unit in the dashboard, which can lead to various malfunctions. During startup, important functions such as the defroster, seat belt warning system, and 360-degree camera function may not operate correctly. Additionally, the plug-in hybrid‘s high-voltage battery-cooling system may also fail to work, potentially increasing the risk of a crash.

Repair and Owner Notification

To address this issue, Mazda will provide a solution without charge. Dealers will reprogram the dashboard electrical supply unit with an improved software update. Owners of affected vehicles will start receiving notifications on December 30. In the interim, they are encouraged to contact Mazda directly at 800-222-5500 (select option 6) or reach out to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s hotline at 888-327-4236. Vehicle owners can also visit the NHTSA website to check their vehicle identification number for more information.
