After rolling out the GMC Hummer EV Pickup, GM announced that the vehicle’s rapid progression from sketch to auto show — it debuted only 18 months after development work began — would become the new normal. That process apparently leaves no time for concepts and speculation, as Cadillac has revealed its next electric vehicle, the 2025 Optiq, in what appears to be production-ready form.

There’s no word on battery pack or electric motors, although Cadillac did say the Optiq will be a compact SUV that slots below the Lyriq SUV in its lineup. It’s possible the Optiq is sitting on a version of the Chevrolet Equinox EV’s platform. The Equinox’s base powertrain is a front-mounted electric motor making 210 horsepower, while a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup bumps power up to 290 hp. At the high end, range estimates will likely land around 300 miles.

With pricing for the Lyriq starting at $58,590 (including destination), we expect the Optiq to start in the mid- to high-$40,000 range. In addition to the Lyriq, it will join the Escalade IQ and the hand-built Celestiq in Cadillac’s rapidly growing EV lineup. The brand has given no indication of when it will release further details on the Optiq.
