Exploring the 2025 Ford Maverick: Mini Truck, Max Utility

The Return of an Icon: 2025 Ford Maverick

One of the most notable automotive successes in the past decade has certainly been the Ford Maverick. Since making its debut for the 2022 model year, this compact, budget-friendly, car-based pickup truck has captivated many. With its first significant update forthcoming in 2025, the Maverick promises to retain its popularity thanks to new styling features, updated technology, and additional options.

Exciting New Features

The biggest news for the 2025 Maverick is the addition of an all-wheel-drive option to the hybrid powertrain, which addresses the most frequent customer request. Further, the Maverick now offers four trims: XL, XLT, Lariat, and Tremor—the last of which has evolved from an off-road package into an individual trim. While the styling changes are minimal, the new front end features standard smoked LED headlights and more streamlined bumpers, depending on the trim level. Other modifications include a refreshed color palette and unique design elements for the Tremor trim.

Powertrain and Performance Enhancements

Under the hood, the 2025 Maverick continues with the same powertrain options from the 2024 model, with a noteworthy exception. The standard powertrain remains the 191-horsepower front-wheel-drive hybrid. This hybrid setup now includes an available all-wheel-drive configuration, doubling its maximum towing capacity from 2,000 pounds to 4,000 pounds. The traditionally turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, maintaining its 238 horsepower, is also still available, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Advanced Technology and Connectivity

Ford has significantly upgraded the Maverick’s technology, enhancing its utility further. Notably, Ford’s Pro Trailer Backup Assist and Pro Trailer Hitch Assist systems are now available, facilitating easier trailer maneuvering and hitching. The truck bed has been redesigned to accommodate two-by-four boards as bed dividers, efficiently preventing load shifts.

On the tech front, the 2025 Maverick boasts a horizontal 13.2-inch touchscreen running on the Sync 4 system. This new system includes wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and numerous connectivity options, complemented by an 8-inch digital gauge display for all variants. Moreover, an optional 360-degree camera is available for higher trims, enhancing visibility in tight spaces.

Pricing and Availability

Deliveries for the standard 2025 Maverick models will begin in late 2024. The pricing starts at $27,890 for the base XL trim and goes up to $41,390 for the Tremor trim, making it one of the most affordable and practical pickup trucks in its segment despite the price increase. The hybrid and gas-only powertrains offer flexibility in terms of performance and budget, ensuring the Maverick continues to meet diverse customer needs.
