Overview of the Recall

Hyundai has announced a recall involving a limited number of 2025 Palisade SUVs, specifically 620 vehicles, due to a potential fire risk. This recall targets models that were produced in Korea and sold in the United States. The root of the issue lies in a faulty electronic oil pump, which may short-circuit and ignite a fire hazard.

Details Behind the Issue

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) received the recall report from Hyundai on May 6, 2025. According to the report, the electronic oil pump has improper hermetic sealing caused by damaged tooling. Consequently, this defect allows moisture to infiltrate the pump, which can lead to electrical short-circuiting and raise the risk of a fire in the affected vehicles.

Recommended Actions for Vehicle Owners

Hyundai encourages all owners of the affected 2025 Palisade models to continue using their vehicles until the issue is resolved. However, the automaker strongly advises parking these SUVs outdoors and away from buildings as a precautionary measure. Affected owners will receive notification via mail, directing them to schedule an appointment with their local dealer for the replacement of the faulty oil pump. This replacement will be at no cost to the owner as it is covered under warranty. Additionally, Hyundai has stated that it will reimburse any owners who have already incurred expenses for fixing this issue.
