Hyundai refreshed its bestselling Tucson for the 2025 model year. Addressing some of our chief complaints about the Tucson, Hyundai redesigned its dashboard around a newly available digital instrument cluster and enlarged and upgraded the infotainment touchscreen.
Now including standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the revised center stack also backpedals on some of its touch-sensitive secondary controls, restoring physical knobs for audio and climate adjustments.
The 2025 Hyundai Tucson is still available in regular gas, hybrid and plug-in hybrid forms. The base engine is a 187-horsepower, 2.5-liter four-cylinder making 178 pounds-feet of torque; it’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, while all-wheel drive is available for an additional $1,500 on all trim levels.
The hybrid Tucsons employ a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder augmented by an electric motor. In the standard hybrid, the combo is good for a total of 231 hp and 258 pounds-feet of torque; a more powerful electric motor bumps the PHEV to 268 hp, while torque output remains unchanged. Both hybrids get a six-speed automatic transmission and standard AWD.
The gas-powered 2025 Tucson is EPA-rated at 25/33/28 mpg city/highway/combined with FWD and 24/30/26 with AWD. Official EPA estimates are not yet available for the hybrids, but with the same 13.8-kilowatt-hour battery as the 2024 model, the PHEV will likely still be capable of traveling 33 miles on electricity and manage 35 mpg combined after the gas engine comes online. The 2024 Hybrid Blue was rated at 38/38/38 mpg, the rest of the hybrid line at 37/36/37 mpg.

Safety Equipment and Trim Levels
Every 2025 Tucson comes equipped with a generous roster of driver-assist systems.
Additional features of the Tucson SE include 17-inch wheels, LED front lighting, keyless entry and start, cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and six speakers.
Aside from their powertrains, gas-powered, hybrid and PHEV Tucsons are identically equipped. The Tucson SEL rides on 18-inch wheels and gets a hands-free power liftgate, a digital key that allows owners to use a paired smartphone as a vehicle key, power-adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control and wireless phone charging. The Blue is the hybrid variant’s SEL, and the XRT is an appearance package that adds black and dark-chrome exterior trim, trim-specific 18-inch wheels, black interior trim and synthetic leather upholstery to the SEL equipment.
Hyundai calls the next step up SEL Convenience, but we count more luxury than convenience features among its additions: LED taillights, a power moonroof, synthetic leather upholstery, ambient lighting, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, voice recognition, and navigation with smart cruise control that will automatically slow for curves.
Only available with the Tucson Hybrid, the N Line builds on the SEL Convenience trim with trim-specific 19-inch wheels, an exclusive grille, front and rear exterior styling, black exterior trim and a panoramic moonroof. Inside, it features sport seats upholstered in leather and cloth, metal pedals, red accents and an eight-speaker Bose sound system.
At the top of all three powertrains’ trim lines sits the Limited. Riding on 19-inch wheels, it gains the panoramic moonroof, as well as upgraded headlights and rain-sensing wipers. Its safety suite is reinforced with a 12-inch head-up display; blind spot cameras; a 360-degree camera system; reverse automatic braking; and front, side and rear parking sensors. Leather upholstery, a power-adjustable passenger seat, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, a heated steering wheel and the eight-speaker Bose sound system round out the Limited’s luxury portfolio.
