Introducing the 2025 Toyota GR86 Hakone Special Edition: A Blend of Performance and Elegance

Unveiling the 2025 Toyota GR86 Hakone Special Edition

Toyota continues to impress car enthusiasts with its latest special edition model, the 2025 GR86 Hakone Special Edition. This model resurrects the distinct color scheme and name from the car’s first generation, featuring an exclusive ridge green paint job and satin-bronze wheels. Named after the Hakone Turnpike, a renowned 8.7-mile stretch of road in Japan’s Kanagawa prefecture, this special edition is designed to capture the essence of performance and style.

Unique Features and Design

The 2025 GR86 Hakone Special Edition stands out with its unique design elements. The exterior is finished in an exclusive ridge green paint, complemented by satin-bronze wheels. Inside, the car is upholstered in black synthetic suede with tan leather accents and stitching. Bronze accents on the shifter and puddle lamps projecting a GR86 silhouette backed by Mount Fuji further enhance its unique look.

Performance Enhancements and Specifications

Like the 2024 GR86 Trueno Edition, the Hakone comes equipped with Brembo brakes and Sachs dampers as standard equipment. The 2025 GR86 maintains its powerful performance with a naturally aspirated 228-horsepower, 2.4-liter flat-four engine that produces 184 pounds-feet of torque. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission. Additionally, the GR86 line for 2025 has received small yet significant upgrades, including retuned shocks and electric power steering for improved road feel and a remapped throttle for quicker response.

Availability and Pricing

Toyota plans to bring 860 units of the GR86 Hakone Special Edition to the U.S. market, with sales starting in the fall. While pricing details will be announced closer to the release date, it is expected to be similar to the 2024 model, which started at $30,395, with the Trueno Edition priced at $35,815 (including destination charge). Car enthusiasts can look forward to a blend of performance and elegance in this latest offering from Toyota.
