What Makes the S2 Alpinista Stand Out?

Livewire, the electrifying offshoot of Harley-Davidson, has unveiled its latest gem, the S2 Alpinista. This new electric motorcycle isn’t just a pretty face; it shares the same robust underpinnings as its sibling model, the S2 Del Mar, which recently clinched the title of MCN’s 2024 Electric Bike of the Year. At £17,390, the Alpinista may not fit everyone’s budget, but with its impressive accolades, it promises to deliver exceptional value.

Key Enhancements and Features

One standout feature of the S2 Alpinista is its transition to 17-inch wheels on both the front and rear. This clever tweak opens up a broader selection of tyre options, enhancing its cornering capabilities. Livewire opted for Dunlop Roadsmart IV rubber as standard, ensuring that riders enjoy a smoother ride with improved grip. Moreover, riders will be pleased to find that the seat height has dropped by 28mm, making it more accessible for all.

A Closer Look at Performance

At the heart of the Alpinista lies a liquid-cooled internal permanent magnet synchronous motor, fuelled by a 10.5kWh lithium battery. While this may not challenge larger machines from competitors like Zero or the now-defunct Energica, it offers a respectable range, boasting 120 miles in the city and 71 miles on the highway. Charging is easy too, with level 1 and level 2 capabilities, allowing riders to charge from 20-80% in just 5.9 hours or as little as 78 minutes with a fast charger.
