The Porsche 914: A Brief History

The Porsche 914, a collaboration between Volkswagen and Porsche, emerged in the late 1960s as an affordable sports car option. With a unique targa-top design, it was available with various engines but was not widely recognized in markets like the UK. Instead, European counterparts garnered more attention, overshadowing this intriguing model.

A Bold Reimagining by Fifteen Eleven Design

Enter Fifteen Eleven Design from Bakewell, UK, which has embarked on an ambitious project to elevate the 914’s profile. The creative team has integrated a 3.8-litre flat-six engine, borrowed from the 987 Cayman S, providing an impressive output of around 375bhp. With a reduced kerb weight of just 975kg, this restomod version is a thrilling testament to what a classic can become.

Stylish Enhancements and Driving Experience

Visually, little of the original car remains, apart from the A- and B-pillars and floors. Upgrades include carbon body panels and a wider stance featuring modern Fuchs wheels, enhancing both aesthetics and performance. Improvised LED headlights and retro-inspired details pay homage to Porsche’s legacy while maintaining a clean and elegant look.

Inside, the vehicle strikingly contrasts modern complexity with a simple yet luxurious dash, offering ample comfort for occupants. The driving experience is where the Fifteen Eleven 914 shines; its stiffer chassis and sophisticated motorsport coilovers provide exceptional balance, evoking the spirit of beloved lightweight sports cars, all while remaining distinctly Porsche.
