The Transformation of the BMW R1300GS

Bodywork specialists Puig have taken the formidable BMW R1300GS and given it a stunning transformation with their new ‘Pista’ kit. This radical redesign shifts the focus from rugged adventure touring to a zippy, track-inspired sports bike. With a power output of 143bhp, the R1300GS has always had a reputation for excellence, but this new bodywork gives it an athletic flair.

Key Features of the Pista Kit

The standout features of the Pista kit include smaller 17-inch wheels and a new aerodynamic body that draws visual comparisons to high-performance machines like the KTM 890 SMT and BMW’s own S1000XR. Displayed recently at the iconic EICMA trade show in Milan, the revamped GS is not just about looks; it also boasts functional improvements. The installation of Rotobox carbon wheels paired with Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa tires enhances both grip and agility on the track.

Upgraded Performance Components

In addition to the aesthetic upgrades, the Puig transformation includes upgraded performance components such as beefier 320mm front brake discs courtesy of Galfer. Completing the sports bike make-over is an Arrow exhaust system, adding a provocative growl to the ride. This combination not only redefines the adventure bike category but also appeals to enthusiasts looking for a sportier option without surrendering the rugged capabilities of the R1300GS.
