Introduction to the Powerplus Evolution
As the motorcycle world gears up for 2025, Indian Motorcycle is set to make waves by doubling their liquid-cooled Powerplus V-Twin touring family. Migrating the beloved Chieftain and Roadmaster from the air-cooled 1890cc Thunderstroke platform, enthusiasts can look forward to these iconic models joining the ranks of the existing Pursuit and Challenger.
A Power Boost to Performance
But wait, there’s more! Indian has upped the ante with a new engine capacity, expanding the 60-degree Powerplus engine from 1768cc (that’s 108 cubic inches for the connoisseurs) to a robust 1834cc (112ci). Developed during the grueling King of the Baggers racing championships, this engine has already secured a record-breaking third consecutive win for Indian – proof that power and performance are at the forefront.
Innovation Meets Comfort and Control
Fitted with the latest engines, the new Chieftain and Roadmaster models weigh in at 382kg and 423kg, proving to be remarkably manageable. With a formidable 124.3bhp and 133.9lb.ft of torque available at just 3800rpm, these motorcycles offer exhilarating power that’s accessible in any gear. Equipped with three riding modes and innovative features such as rear cylinder deactivation and cruise control, they ensure a smoother ride than ever before.
Revolutionary handling components are also on the horizon. Gone are the bulky non-adjustable telescopic forks, replaced by 43mm upside-down stanchions that provide substantially improved feedback and comfort. Pair this with a sleek fork-mounted fairing and adjustable windscreen, and you’ve got a recipe for comfort over long distances, with ample luggage space — over 140 litres to be precise!
In the race for innovation, Indian Motorcycle has crafted a lineup that not only focuses on big engines but also equips riders with advanced tech. From bike hold control to blind-spot warnings, the new six-part rider assist setup, operated through a 178mm touchscreen display, positions riders to cruise safely and confidently into the future.
