Cadillac’s XT4 to End Production

The Cadillac XT4, the brand’s smallest SUV, will soon be reaching the end of its production run. General Motors has officially confirmed that the final units of the XT4 will be produced in January 2025 at the Fairfax assembly plant in Kansas City, Kansas. This decision comes as the company prepares to pivot towards the production of the next generation Chevrolet Bolt EV, expected to begin in 2025.

Sales Performance and Market Impact

Throughout the first three quarters of 2024, the XT4 sold a notable 15,688 units, showcasing a solid presence in the subcompact luxury SUV market. However, the path ahead is unclear concerning whether Cadillac will introduce a replacement model for the XT4 in the near future. As it stands, the crossover segment will be supplemented by the XT5 and the newly launched electric Optiq, both of which cater to the compact luxury SUV audience.

The Future of Chevrolet Bolt EV

The new second-generation Chevrolet Bolt EV is set to benefit from the advancements in battery technology that GM intends to implement at the Fairfax facility. Although details about the upcoming model remain scarce, it is anticipated that it will fill the void left by the outgoing Bolt EV and Bolt EUV, which were discontinued after the 2023 model year. Given its past success, the company appears optimistic about the potential of the new hatchback, having dedicated an entire production line to its manufacturing.
