Failing Turn Signals: 2022-24 Ford Maverick Recalled

The first came in June over a fire risk that affected both other Fords and vehicles from Ford’s luxury arm Lincoln; the second exclusively affects the Maverick, and it’s over faulty turn signals.

Nearly 190,000 model-year 2022-24 Mavericks are affected. In the event that one of the rear turn signals stops working, the vehicle will not adjust the turn-signal flash-rate frequency to warn the driver that the turn signal isn’t working correctly. A faulty exterior turn signal that fails to notify other drivers the Maverick is turning increases the risk of a crash.

The fix is straightforward: Dealers will update the body control module software for free. Ford will notify owners Jan. 2, 2024, but those with further questions in the meantime can call Ford at 866-436-7332 (Ford’s number for this recall is 23C41), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
