Hyundai’s Future Road Map Unveiled

Hyundai has released a comprehensive road map outlining its strategic plans for the upcoming years. As part of this ambitious vision, the company is set to expand its hybrid footprint significantly. For instance, Genesis—Hyundai’s luxury brand—will soon introduce gas-electric powertrains for the first time. Additionally, Hyundai has confirmed the name of its upcoming three-row electric SUV, which will debut as the Ioniq 9 later this year.

High Hopes for Hybrids

During its 2024 CEO Investor Day, Hyundai stated that it anticipates a surge in demand for hybrids, particularly in North America. In response, the company plans to double its current hybrid model offerings from seven to 14, including the Genesis lineup, each of which will feature a hybrid option. Among the announcements was a reveal of the next-generation hybrid system dubbed TMED-II. This enhanced version promises to deliver significantly improved fuel efficiency and performance, with production models equipped with TMED-II expected to hit the market by early next year.
