A Refreshed Look for the 2025 Volkswagen Jetta

Entering its seventh model year, the 2025 Volkswagen Jetta has received a fresh update while maintaining much of its current-generation appeal. At a base price of $23,220, the new Jetta is only $560 higher than the 2024 model, inclusive of a $1,225 destination fee. Notably, the new Jetta features a redesigned nose, including a fresh bumper, grille, and LED headlights connected by an optional LED light bar. The rear is similarly enhanced with a new trunk lid and standard LED bar linking the taillights.

Powertrain Specifications and Fuel Efficiency

The 2025 Jetta comes with a 158-horsepower, turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 184 pounds-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Jetta GLI offers more power with a 228-hp, turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine delivering 258 pounds-feet of torque. Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission for the GLI, at no additional cost. All models are front-wheel drive. Fuel efficiency for the base Jetta S is rated at 29/39/33 mpg for city/highway/combined, while the Sport, SE, and SEL trims achieve slightly better highway mileage at 29/40/33 mpg. The GLI’s fuel economy is 26/36/30 mpg with manual transmission and 25/35/29 mpg with the dual-clutch automatic.

Trim Levels and Safety Features

The 2025 Volkswagen Jetta comes in several trims: S, Sport, SE, SEL, and GLI, each offering varying features and luxury levels. The entry-level S includes 16-inch aluminum wheels, LED lights, cloth upholstery, and dual-zone automatic climate control. The Sport trim adds stainless-steel pedals, a front LED light bar, and 17-inch wheels. SE trim enhances convenience with keyless entry, synthetic leather upholstery, and an upgraded infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SEL trim includes a panoramic moonroof, leather upholstery, and advanced tech features such as a 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster and navigation. The top-level GLI includes most of the SEL’s luxury features and adds performance-oriented elements like adaptive dampers and larger front brakes.

Volkswagen has also standardized their IQ.Drive safety suite for 2025 Jetta models. This suite includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind spot intervention, rear cross-traffic alert, and travel assist, which combines adaptive cruise control and lane-centering steering.

Availability and Final Thoughts

The 2025 Volkswagen Jetta and Jetta GLI are expected to go on sale later in 2024. As Volkswagen continues to invest in enhancing the Jetta’s design and features, it remains a steadfast option for those seeking a blend of style, efficiency, and advanced technology in a sedan. With its refreshed look and cutting-edge features, the 2025 Jetta is poised to attract both new buyers and longtime fans alike.
