Carlos Sainz’s Transition to Williams

Renowned Formula 1 driver Carlos Sainz has recently opened up about the significant adjustments he faces after joining the Williams team. Moving from Ferrari, one of the most prestigious teams in F1 history, to Williams, Sainz describes adapting to the Mercedes power unit as the “biggest change” he has experienced in his career.

Experiencing the Williams FW45

During December’s filming day and subsequent post-season testing at Yas Marina, Sainz got his first look at the FW45. This experience marked the beginning of his journey with the team and provided him insight into the unique characteristics of the car, coupled with the performance of the Mercedes engine. The Spaniard has since participated in a two-day TPC program in Barcelona, further solidifying his familiarity with the machinery.

Looking Ahead with New Challenges

As Sainz prepares for the upcoming season, he acknowledges how the Mercedes power unit will go hand-in-hand with his driving style. This transition to a new engine is a notable milestone, given that this will be Sainz’s sixth team in eleven F1 seasons. Fans are eager to see how he harnesses these changes in the competitive landscape of Formula 1, especially with the FW47 shakedown already completed at Silverstone.
