Cadillac’s New Journey in Formula 1

The Cadillac Formula 1 team has made headlines recently with its exciting partnership with Ferrari, set to be the team’s initial engine supplier. However, this collaboration is only a temporary arrangement. As the sport evolves, so does Cadillac’s aspirations on the F1 grid, aiming for a long-term presence with its own power unit.

Transition to GM Performance Power Units

As confirmed by the FIA, General Motors (GM) is slated to become an official engine manufacturer for Cadillac starting in 2029. This decision culminates a long journey following the initial entry of Cadillac F1 as the sport’s 11th team, supported by Andretti Global and GM. The FIA’s approval of GM Performance Power Units marks a pivotal moment in the expansion of Formula 1, enabling Cadillac to transition into a works team status.

An Exciting Future Ahead

FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem expressed his enthusiasm about this development, stating that it represents not just progress for Cadillac but also a commitment to broadening the Formula 1 grid. This new chapter underscores the growing interest from world-class automotive manufacturers like GM in the sport. As Cadillac gears up for its debut with the Ferrari engine, the future with GM power units looks promising for the iconic brand.
