Introduction to the Special Livery

After a challenging start to the season, Red Bull has introduced a special one-off livery for the upcoming Japanese Grand Prix. This change is a homage to their engine partner, Honda, as the company celebrates 60 years since its remarkable first Formula 1 victory. That pivotal win came with the RA272, driven by Richie Ginther at the 1965 Mexican Grand Prix.

Significance of the RA272

The RA272, characterized by its striking white and red color scheme, has inspired the updated design of the RB21, now adorned in similar hues. This tribute serves not only as a nod to Honda’s history in the sport but also fosters a deeper connection between Red Bull and its engine supplier. The celebration culminates with the RA272 making a public appearance in Tokyo, accompanied by past successful Red Bull cars, including the RB7 and Max Verstappen’s title-winning RB16.

Future and Legacy

All Red Bull drivers, including Max Verstappen, Yuki Tsunoda, Liam Lawson, and Isack Hadjar, will participate in this exciting occasion. The event is destined to become a memorable one; however, it will not be free from competitive spirit among the drivers. Additionally, fans may recall that Red Bull previously showcased a similar homage to Honda during the 2021 Turkish Grand Prix. This dedication demonstrates not only Red Bull’s commitment to honoring its partners but also highlights the tradition of special liveries emerging at significant races such as the one at Suzuka, where Haas plans to unveil their own cherry blossom-inspired design.
