Preparation and Initial Steps

Begin by accessing the battery and disconnecting the negative terminal to avoid electrical issues. Lay out the wiring in a way that avoids interference with moving parts. Locate the interior panels under the steering wheel and handle them carefully. Remove the fuse access panel by hand and unbolt the lower panel situated beneath the steering column. Choose a suitable location for the fog light switch that is easily accessible to the driver. Next, identify ground wires and locate a bolt that goes through metal to attach the ground connector.

Wiring the Fog Lights

Using a voltmeter, find an empty 12v fuse slot and connect the positive connector. This connection will allow the fog lights to operate in synchronization with the engine. To wire the fog lights, pass the wiring through the firewall, employing a coat hanger for rigid sections. Connect the switch wiring to engine bay wiring meticulously, ensuring excess wiring is tucked neatly within the interior panels. Position the wiring leading toward the designated fog light installation area.

Final Steps and Testing

Locate open spaces behind the headlights; if necessary, remove the fender for better access. Utilize a plastic trim removal tool to detach any stubborn covers. Connect the wiring accordingly and ensure the positive lead is linked to the positive battery terminal. Conduct a test to verify the fog lights are functioning correctly before securing everything back in place. Lastly, check the fog lights’ orientation using the adjustment screw and ensure they are installed low enough on the front end of the vehicle, ideally 10 to 24 inches above ground. Remember to avoid using fog lights in conjunction with high beams for optimal safety.
