A Bold Makeover for the Aygo X

Toyota’s subcompact Aygo X for Europe has received a significant makeover, elevating it to the status of the continent’s cleanest car without a plug. The exterior and interior redesign not only imparts a sharper, modern look but also emphasizes its hybrid-only status. With CO2 emissions slashed to just 86 grams per kilometer, the Aygo X is now a cleaner option compared to its bigger counterpart, the Yaris Hybrid, rated at 88 g/km.

Power and Performance Boost

Under the hood, the Aygo X adopts a robust hybrid system that combines a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor, producing a combined output of 116 horsepower and 104 lb-ft (141 Nm) of torque. This marks a significant power increase—an additional 44 horsepower—when compared to its combustion-only predecessor. Notably, the Aygo X can now accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in under 10 seconds, showcasing a remarkable improvement over the previous model’s 15.5-second sprint.

Innovative Features and Environmental Considerations

The new Aygo X is not only more efficient but also features an enhanced driving experience, described by Toyota as quieter and smoother. Moreover, it comes packed with standard safety equipment and now supports over-the-air updates for the first time. Interestingly, Toyota has also focused on sustainability in the production of the Aygo X, reducing its manufacturing carbon footprint by 18% compared to the outgoing model. The factory in Czechia utilizes a significant proportion of renewable energy to achieve this environmentally friendly objective.
