Farewell to the Acura ZDX

It’s a bittersweet moment for Acura enthusiasts as the brand officially bids farewell to its only electric SUV, the Acura ZDX. Despite initial sales showing promise, Honda has confirmed that production will cease due to evolving market conditions. This decision was announced through a memo to plant workers at GM’s Spring Hill, Tennessee facility, where the ZDX was assembled.

Shifting Focus to New Electric Models

While the news may be disappointing, it paves the way for exciting developments ahead. Honda stated that the production of the Acura ZDX would not continue, as they concentrate on aligning their product offerings with customer needs and market trends. Instead, Acura is steering its energy towards its sporty new electric SUV, the RSX. Scheduled to debut from Honda’s Ohio EV hub in the second half of 2026, the RSX promises to breathe new life into Acura’s electric lineup.

The Future of Acura’s Electric Presence

Don’t worry, Acura fans! The Acura ZDX may be done, but electric innovation isn’t over. Alongside the RSX, Acura is also looking to revive hybrid models, although specifics are still under wraps. Meanwhile, the Honda Prologue, another GM-based electric SUV, remains on track for production in 2026. Workers at the Spring Hill plant can breathe easy, as GM’s memo assures that job security will not be affected by these changes. Instead, there’s a plan to increase production of gas-powered Chevy Blazers starting in 2027. Overall, while the ZDX has officially ended, Acura’s foray into electric vehicles is just beginning.
