Celebrating the Legacy of ‘Slippery Sam’

Triumph Motorcycles is once again honoring its racing heritage with the launch of the second special edition Trident 660 in just two years. Dubbed the ‘Trident Triple Tribute,’ this limited-time offering pays homage to the iconic ‘Slippery Sam’ race bike, which dominated the Isle of Man TT from 1971 to 1975.

Impressive Features of the Trident 660

The tribute model, priced at £8,045, is built on the latest Trident 660 platform, set to debut in late 2024 for the 2025 riding season. As explained by Chief Commercial Officer Paul Stroud, this bike has successfully attracted younger riders to Triumph thanks to its triple engine and premium detailing. Enhancements, including cornering ABS and traction control, ensure a safe and engaging ride, paired with the innovative quickshifter and new ‘sport’ riding mode.

Aesthetic Appeal and Practicality

This special edition showcases a striking blue, black, and red color scheme, complemented by body-colored components such as radiator cowls, fork protectors, and a matching flyscreen. Weighing in at 189kg with a seat height of 805mm, it’s designed for accessibility and comfort, catering to a diverse range of riders. While the previous model featured prominent white accents, both editions maintain the racing number 67, the emblem of the original ‘Slippery Sam.’ Though the homage feels a divergent approach from the classic styling of its predecessor, it undoubtedly carries an impressive aesthetic that resonates with today’s motorcycling community.
