Crashes Derail Championship Hopes

Alex Marquez faced a challenging MotoGP race at Le Mans, walking away with zero points after two crashes left him unable to finish. His first crash occurred at Turn 3, but Marquez managed to recover and continue the race. However, a more severe crash later in the final sector put an end to his race weekend. This disappointing outcome dramatically affected his standings, as he entered the race as the championship leader but now trails his older brother, Marc Marquez, by 22 points.

Taking Responsibility

In a post-race interview with GPone, Marquez took full responsibility for his errors, reflecting on the incidents with honesty and humility. “It went the way it went,” he stated. “I can’t be happy after falling twice and not bringing home a single point.” The young Spaniard acknowledged that up until his crashes, he had executed his strategy nearly perfectly, controlling his lead effectively against competitors like Pedro Acosta.

Lessons Learned and Future Focus

Marquez noted that the second crash particularly “upset” him, emphasizing the mental aspect of racing. He highlighted that while he felt he had made all the right moves during the race, the strategies employed by other competitors—such as Johann Zarco’s riskier approach—could not be replicated given his championship situation. As he looks ahead, Marquez knows he needs to learn from this experience to regain his strong performance in upcoming races.
