Duracell Takes on the UK EV Charging Challenge

In a brilliantly shocking turn of events (pun intended), Duracell, the iconic US battery brand that has been keeping our TVs running since the 1920s, is making waves across the Atlantic. Duracell is set to launch its first ever EV fast charging network, aptly named Duracell E-Charge, in the UK. With plans to invest over £200 million in the next decade, they are more than just another battery brand trying to get in on the electric vehicle action.

Ultrafast Charging: Goodbye Waiting, Hello Plug & Go!

As gas and diesel sales are set to end in the UK by 2030, the demand for efficient and reliable EV charging infrastructure has skyrocketed. Reza Shaybani, CEO of the EV Network, succinctly put it: “The need for faster, more reliable charging to keep pace with EV adoption is clear.” With Duracell E-Charge, drivers will be greeted with 400 kW ultra-fast chargers that allow payments via app or contactless—goodbye to those archaic coin slots!

A Bright Future for Battery Power

Ready for the most electrifying news? The first six Duracell E-Charge sites are set to launch in 2025, with a staggering goal of expanding to at least 100 locations by 2030. These charging hubs will be conveniently located along major motorways, ensuring no driver is left stranded. Managed by the experienced team at Elektra Charge, the network promises a straightforward solution for drivers. As Duracell’s managing director, Mark Bloxham, puts it: “Charging your car should be as simple as changing the batteries in your remote.” And who wouldn’t want an experience like that? Plug, play, and go—let’s get charged up!
