2024 Honda Prologue, Brand’s First EV

On 2024, the company is jumping in with its first-ever EV, the Prologue SUV, and has now released pricing for its lineup: The 2024 Prologue will start at $48,795 (all prices include $1,395 destination charge).

Honda took a shortcut and partnered with GM. Honda says it co-developed the Prologue with Chevrolet, but our early impressions suggest that Chevrolet did most of the work and Honda simply reskinned the Blazer EV. Like the Blazer EV, the Prologue is a mid-size five-occupant SUV and is similar in size to Honda’s gas-powered Passport.

Powertrain Specs and Range
Built on GM’s Ultium electrical architecture, the Prologue will be available with a single electric motor driving the front wheels or two motors providing all-wheel drive. Both configurations will draw juice from an 85-kilowatt-hour battery pack. The front-drive Prologue’s single motor puts out 212 horsepower and 236 pounds-feet of torque, while AWD variants make 288 hp and 333 pounds-feet. Honda rates the range at 296 miles for single-motor versions and up to 281 miles for those with AWD (official EPA figures are not yet available); the top of the line Elite, riding on 21-inch wheels (versus 19s on the EX and Touring), is rated at 273 miles. Capable of accepting up to 150 kilowatts, the Prologue can add 65 miles of range in about 10 minutes on a DC fast charger.

Prologue buyers can choose one of three charging packages at no extra cost: a Level 2 home-charging station and $500 toward its installation, plus a $100 credit on the EVgo charging network; a portable Level 1 and Level 2 charging kit and $250 toward the installation of a home charger, plus $300 in EVgo credit; or simply $750 in EVgo credit. All three options also include 60 kWh of charging on the Electrify America charging network.

Standard Honda Sensing Safety Tech
The Honda Sensing suite of advanced driver-assist systems is standard on every Prologue. It includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane departure steering assist, lane-centering steering, adaptive cruise control, traffic-sign recognition, driver attention monitor and low-speed traffic jam assist. Additional systems not lumped under the Honda Sensing umbrella but standard on every Prologue include rear cross-traffic alert with pedestrian alert and automatic braking, as well as active blind spot assist that will resist a lane change if it detects a potential collision.

Availability and Pricing
The 2024 Honda Prologue will go on sale in March. Full line pricing is as follows. AWD adds $3,000 to the EX and Touring, while the Elite comes with AWD only.

EX: $48,795
Touring: $53,095
Elite: $59,295
Trim Levels
All 2024 Prologues will sport an 11-inch digital instrument cluster as well as an 11.3-inch touchscreen with Google Built-In and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Additionally, the EX features cloth seats with accent stitching, a power driver’s seat, heated front seats and dual-zone climate control.

The Touring trim level adds a power liftgate with kick sensor, leather seating, and front and rear parking sensors. Stepping up to the Elite nets 21-inch wheels, ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, additional interior color choices and an exclusive Sport driving mode.
