Introduction to the Partnership

Starting in February, Mercedes-Benz electric vehicle (EV) owners will have the opportunity to access Tesla’s extensive supercharger network. This groundbreaking collaboration aims to enhance the convenience and versatility of charging options for Mercedes EV customers across the United States.

Adoption of the North American Charging Standard

This significant development follows Mercedes-Benz’s earlier commitment to adopting Tesla’s North American Charging Standard (NACS). As a result, future Mercedes-Benz EVs will be equipped exclusively with NACS ports beginning in 2025, phasing out the combined charging system (CCS) ports used in earlier models. This transition will ensure that Mercedes EVs can seamlessly integrate with Tesla’s infrastructure.

Access and Adaptation for Existing Models

For current Mercedes-Benz EV owners with CCS ports, accessing the Tesla supercharger network will require an adapter, available for purchase for $185 at Mercedes dealerships and online. This step is crucial as it will allow existing models to benefit from the extensive supercharger network, mitigating range anxiety and enhancing the overall electric vehicle ownership experience.

The addition of Tesla’s supercharger network to Mercedes-Benz EVs stands as a testament to the growing collaboration in the EV industry, as manufacturers and charging networks work together to create a more interconnected future for electric mobility.
