Charging into the Future

Starting July 31, 2023, Lucid Air owners can add a little extra zap to their drives with access to approximately 23,500 Tesla Supercharger DC fast chargers sprinkled across the United States. While this seems like a dream come true for road warriors always on the go, there’s a bit of a twist that we need to unpack.

Lucid Air Owners Can Supercharge with a Twist

Voltage Dilemma

Now, let’s address the elephant in the charging station. Tesla’s Superchargers typically fire off around 400 volts, but the Lucid Air’s fancy battery pack laughs in the face of that measly output with a comfortable intake of over 900 volts. So, when Lucid owners connect, they’re getting only about 50 kW of charging power. This translates to roughly 200 miles of range per hour—great in emergencies but hardly the ultimate solution for those ambitious 1,000-mile road trips.

Adapters and App Adventures

To make magic happen, Lucid owners will need a NACS to CCS1 adapter, priced at a cool 0, not counting taxes. And lest we forget, activating a charging session requires setting up a payment method in the Lucid smartphone app. This isn’t your everyday charging experience—we’re in premium territory here!

2026 Launches with New Features

As if that wasn’t enough, all 2026 Lucid Air models come equipped with a mobile charging cable and a quieter, more efficient AC compressor to keep the serene cabin blissfully tranquil. Additionally, the Air Touring model has upped its range to a glorious 431 miles, ensuring you don’t have to pull over for snacks too often. Just watch out for that price bump—upward of $1,000 on some trims!

So, if you’re eyeing a Luxurious Lucid, just remember: charging at Tesla Superchargers isn’t quite as super as it sounds—but it’s definitely a step in the right direction!
