Overview of the Recall

Ford has announced a recall of more than 90,700 vehicles due to an issue with faulty engine intake valves. The recall impacts several models equipped with the 2.7- or 3.0-liter Nano EcoBoost V-6 engines. Affected vehicles include the 2021-22 Bronco, Edge, and Explorer SUVs, as well as F-150 trucks. Lincoln’s Aviator and Nautilus SUVs from the same model years are also impacted.

Specifics of the Problem

The identified issue revolves around the engine intake valves, which may crack and break. This defect could lead to a loss of drive power, thereby increasing the risk of a crash. Before complete failure, the check-engine light may appear, and drivers could notice the vehicle running rough.

Resolution and Next Steps

Ford will notify owners about the recall starting October 7th. To resolve the issue, dealers will conduct an engine cycle test and replace the engine if necessary, free of charge. For more information, affected owners can contact Ford at 866-436-7332, referencing recall number 24S55, or they can reach out to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236. Additionally, owners can visit the NHTSA website and check their vehicle identification number for further details.
