Introduction to the 2023 BMW i4 Updates
This year, BMW is enhancing its flagship electric vehicle, the i4, with exciting updates aimed at improving driving range and performance. The standout news is the introduction of the i4 M60 xDrive, which replaces the previous i4 M50 model, now boasting impressive power and efficiency.

The Powerful i4 M60 xDrive
The new i4 M60 xDrive features two electric motors, one located on each axle, generating a total output of 593 horsepower (442 kilowatts). This marks a notable increase of 56 horsepower compared to its predecessor and even surpasses the BMW M4 CS, the top-tier gas-powered 4 Series model. With a lightning-fast acceleration of 0 to 62 miles per hour in just 3.7 seconds and a promising driving range of 269 miles under the WLTP cycle, the i4 M60 xDrive sets a new standard in luxury electric vehicles.
Improvements for Entry-Level Models
Not only the flagship but also the entry-level versions of the i4—specifically the eDrive35 and eDrive40—are receiving significant enhancements. Thanks to new silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductor components, the driving range has been extended by approximately 13 to 14 miles, achieving a 4.5% reduction in energy consumption. The BMW i4 eDrive35 now offers a driving range of 266 miles, while the eDrive40 models can reach up to 317 miles (510 km) on a full charge, making them highly competitive in the EV market.
As BMW continues to prioritize reliability, last month, the German automaker also improved its warranty coverage for high-voltage batteries across all EV models, ensuring peace of mind for buyers.
With production set to begin in July and deliveries shortly thereafter, the updated BMW i4 looks poised for continued success as it solidifies its position as BMW’s best-selling EV model in the U.S. last year.
