Charging Ahead: Indiana’s EV Revolution
Hold onto your electric hats, folks! Indiana is getting a shocking boost to its EV charging network. GoEVin, the state’s electrifying initiative, just unveiled that a whopping $3.3 million will help support the buildout of 36 new charging projects. That’s right – we’re talking 18 DC fast charger sites and 18 Level 2 charging stations spread across the Hoosier state.

Funding the Future with VW Mitigation Money
Curious where this impactful cash flow is coming from? It turns out it’s all thanks to something Carl Lisek, the executive director of Drive Clean Indiana, coined as “VW mitigation money.” All the new DC fast chargers are strategically located along Indiana’s designated alternative fuel corridors. Picture drivers plugging in 24/7 at travel centers, restaurants, and shopping areas along highways – it’s about to get electrifyingly convenient!
From Federal Funds to Local Projects
Now, let’s talk about the road ahead. Back in March 2024, the Indiana Department of Transportation selected 39 sites for the fast charging stations, initially set for completion this year. However, the Trump administration’s federal funding yanked those plans. But fear not! Many of these sites are making a comeback in the GoEVin list, including Pilot stations that will light up the landscape soon. Though contracts are yet to be signed, excitement is certainly building. By the end of 2026, we’ll see all 36 new charging projects complete!
