For 2024, the Traverse is ready for shoppers to order and starts at $38,995 (all prices include destination charge).
Replacing the outgoing Traverse’s 3.6-liter V-6 engine is a 328-horsepower, turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder making 326 pounds-feet of torque, bettering the six-cylinder by 18 hp and 60 pounds-feet. The new turbo four is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on most trim levels, with all-wheel drive a $2,000 option; all-wheel drive is standard on the Traverse Z71.
Final EPA fuel-economy ratings aren’t available yet, but figures should increase somewhat over the 2023 model’s 18/27/21 mpg city/highway/combined for FWD variants and 17/25/20 mpg with AWD.

The base 2024 Traverse LS is only available with eight seats. It rides on 18-inch wheels and features remote start, a power liftgate, LED headlights, keyless entry and start, tri-zone automatic climate control, cloth seats, heated front seats and steering wheel, an 11-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google Built-In and six speakers. Stepping up to the LT nets minimal additional standard equipment (roof rails, a power driver’s seat, seven-passenger seating with second-row captain’s chairs and wireless charging) but opens up additional optional equipment.
Above the LT, the Traverse forks in two directions. The RS wears black 22-inch wheels, LED taillights, a sport suspension and black exterior trim. It also includes a panoramic moonroof, rain-sensing windshield wipers with a heated rest, and a towing package that’s good for hauling up to 5,000 pounds and includes a dedicated rearview camera angle for attaching the trailer. Inside, the RS features a flat-bottom steering wheel, Bose premium audio, leather upholstery, a power front-passenger seat, ventilated front seats, heated rear outboard seats, a power-folding third row, ambient lighting and a rear camera mirror. The RS also includes the Enhanced Driving Package, which consists of GM’s Super Cruise hands-free highway driving system, parking assist and a driver attention monitor.
The Z71 shares its black exterior accents with the RS, but its features more closely mirror that of the LT. It focuses on off-road capability with a suspension raised 1 inch and a twin-clutch AWD system with torque-vectoring rear differential. The Z71 also rolls on black wheels, but they’re 18s wrapped in all-terrain rubber, and the front end features an aluminum skid plate and the Z71 package’s trademark red tow hooks.
Regardless of trim, the Traverse’s suite of standard safety equipment is impressive. It includes forward collision warning with pedestrian and bicyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, active blind spot assist, rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, and rear parking sensors. Chevrolet’s Driver Confidence Package is standard across the line and includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure steering assist, a 360-degree camera system and road-sign recognition. In addition to the auditory and visual alerts used by such systems to get the driver’s attention, the Traverse features GM’s Safety Alert Seat, which vibrates the seat cushion to alert the driver of threats.
