Hyundai is recalling more than 186,000 examples of its Elantra sedan. The issue involves a component : the emergency trunk latch.

Affected vehicles include model-year 2015-16 Elantra sedans. The emergency trunk latches in these vehicles may become damaged in high temperatures and require extra force to actuate the trunk release from within, increasing the risk of injury.

Dealers will resolve the issue by replacing the trunk latch base subassembly at no charge. Hyundai will notify owners April 15, but those with further questions can call the automaker at 855-371-9460 (Hyundai’s number for this recall is 256), or visit NHTSA’s website to check their vehicle identification number and learn more.
