Genesis is expanding a previous recall from September to include more than 31,400 examples of its G80 and G90 sedans and GV70 and GV80 SUVs.

Impellers in the low-pressure fuel-pump assembly may not meet certain material specifications, leading to deformation in certain environments and causing the fuel pump to shut down.

The shutdown could restrict fuel flow to the engine, leading to a sudden reduction in motive power; if this occurs, drivers may notice engine stumbling and hesitation, as well as a rough idle.

As a remedy, dealers will inspect and replace the fuel pump assembly for free. Genesis parent company Hyundai will notify vehicle owners June 18, but those with further questions in the meantime can contact the automaker’s customer service at 855-371-9460 (Hyundai’s number for this recall is 022G), the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236, or visit its website to check your vehicle identification number and learn more.
