Meet the GEM EX

Waev Inc. has just unveiled its latest innovation, the GEM EX, an electric utility vehicle that aims to redefine versatility for commercial, industrial, and government fleets. Bridging the gap between low-speed vehicles and robust off-road machines, the GEM EX is designed to navigate city streets, job sites, and rugged terrains while maintaining an emissions-free footprint.

Power and Performance

The GEM EX features an impressive top speed of 25 mph (40 km/h) and is street-legal on roads up to 35 mph (56 km/h). Powering this sturdy vehicle is a 6.5 kW rear-wheel drive motor paired with a limited-slip rear differential, providing excellent traction. The 8 kWh battery ensures a remarkable range of up to 85 miles (137 km), perfect for long workdays.

Safety and Utility Features

Safety is prioritized with features such as 3-point seat belts, a backup camera, pedestrian noise emitters, and durable bumpers. The GEM EX is equipped with winter and all-terrain tires, complemented by 9.5 inches of ground clearance and a 50-degree approach angle. Its back boasts a composite dump box with a hauling capacity of 1,250 lb (567 kg), making it an excellent choice for heavy-duty tasks. Optional doors and climate control adaptations further enhance its functionality, ensuring it stands as a true all-weather workhorse.

Despite the price tag of $24,955, the GEM EX sets itself apart in the electric utility vehicle market, making it a quieter, cleaner, and an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional gasoline-powered UTVs. As Waev’s director of engineering noted, customer feedback has been key in refining this vehicle into a reliable work companion. The GEM EX indeed represents the next generation of electric utility vehicles.
