Looks like: The “coupe” SUV trend isn’t ending anytime soon
Powertrains: 300-horsepower, turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder or 375-hp, twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6; coupe version to offer a 409-hp, twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 with 48-volt electric supercharger
Following in the footsteps of other luxury SUV makers, Genesis is debuting the 2025 GV80 Coupe at the 2023 Los Angeles Auto Show, a fastback-styled, sleeker-looking version of its GV80 four-door SUV. It will join the regular GV80 in the lineup, which gets light exterior styling updates along with cabin and infotainment system enhancements for 2025.
Exterior
Outside, the 2025 GV80 gets subtle style updates, such as a new double-layered grille, which is flanked by the GV80’s signature two-line design headlamps. Other edits include larger air intakes and a wider skid plate design on the front bumper, along with new chrome trim on the body sides and two new wheel designs.
The new coupe version wears the same face as the regular GV80 but stands apart with its dramatically sloping rear roofline along with specific LED taillight and brakelight designs and a rear spoiler. It also features coupe-exclusive 20- and 22-inch wheel designs.
Powertrain Specs
Powertrains for the 2025 Genesis GV80 carry over. The standard engine is again the 300-horsepower, turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder; also available is the twin-turbo 3.5-liter V-6 that makes 375 hp. For 2024, the four-cylinder was available with rear- or all-wheel drive, while the V-6 came with AWD standard. No word yet on if those configurations carry over for 2025, but we don’t see why they wouldn’t. Both engines were paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission for 2024.
Genesis didn’t give a complete powertrain picture for the GV80 Coupe, saying only that it will be available with two engines, one of which will be the twin turbo V-6 but boosted with a 48-volt electric supercharger for a total of 409 hp. The brand said it will release more specs closer to the GV80 Coupe’s on-sale date.
Interior
Inside, the big news is the GV80’s screen setup. A large, horizontal 27-inch-wide display combines the infotainment system and instrument cluster screens, spanning a good deal of the cabin’s dash and absorbing more climate controls into the screens.
The previous GV80’s signature classy design carries over with some updates. The gear selector has been revised with a new crystal-like material ringing the knob. In addition, Genesis said it listened to customer feedback and made several ergonomic adjustments to the cabin, including a redesigned wireless smartphone charging tray for more convenient charging and improved phone visibility, an enlarged console cupholder and a knob-type volume and tuning button.
The coupe version adds cabin extras such as carbon garnishes, specific seat patterns, and stitching and metal accents on the brake and accelerator pedals.
Pricing and Availability
Genesis said it will announce additional specifications and pricing closer to the GV80’s on-sale date in 2024. For comparison, the outgoing Genesis GV80 starts at $58,575 for the 2.5T model and $65,725 for the 3.5T version (all prices include destination).
