Introduction to the Desmo450 MX

Ducati has officially unveiled its highly anticipated Desmo450 MX motocrosser, a machine that promises to redefine the motocross experience with cutting-edge technology. Weighing in at just 104.8kg, this circuit-only bike offers impressive specifications, including a powerful 450cc single-cylinder motor that generates a claimed 63.5bhp at 9400rpm and peak torque of 39lb.ft at 7500rpm.

Innovative Engineering Features

At the heart of the Desmo450 MX is Ducati’s signature desmodromic valve arrangement. Unlike traditional systems, this technology allows for more aggressive lift diagrams, helping the engine to achieve 70% of its maximum torque at just 4200rpm. Factory rider Mattia Guadagnini showcased the bike’s potential by finishing fourth at the opening round of the 2025 motocross world championship in Argentina, relying on a production engine with an Akrapovič exhaust.

Advanced Chassis and Electronics

Ducati has designed the Desmo450 MX with an 8.96kg twin-spar aluminum frame, combined with Showa suspension for superior performance. The bike also includes a sophisticated electronics suite, featuring Ducati Traction Control (DTC) and adjustable launch control. With four levels of intervention and the ability to deactivate the system during jumps, the DTC ensures that riders can optimize their performance without compromising safety.

Anticipated to hit European dealerships in June 2025, with a price tag of £11,245, the Desmo450 MX is set to lead the pack in motocross technology. North American customers can expect to see the bike in July 2025. Ducati has certainly raised the bar with this model, promising competitive edge and reliability for motocross enthusiasts.
